The Ultimate LinuxDOOM Version 1.1, 31 July 1995 (final release) Steffen Winterfeldt (wfeldt@tph100.physik.uni-leipzig.de) Some weeks ago id Software released a fourth episode to DOOM I, "Thy flesh consumed". Unfortunately only as a DOS version. If you upgraded your registered DOOM to The Ultimate DOOM v1.9 there is a way to play the new WAD with Linux-DOOM v1.8 as well. All you have to do is to use my Ultimate LinuxDOOM patch. What you need ============= To apply this patch you need the version of Linux-DOOM (version 1.8) which is currently available at id Software's ftp server. I think there exists no other version anyway. And, of course, The Ultimate LinuxDOOM patch, currently available at http://www.physik.uni-leipzig.de/~wfeldt/udoom/udoom-1.1.tar.gz . What you get ============ After succesfully applying this patch, X-DOOM and SVGA-DOOM will behave very similar to The Ultimate DOOM. In fact there are no visible differences left. Except, that * unlike its DOS counterpart, The Ultimate LinuxDOOM will not crash while trying to view demo4 when used with doom2.wad * it can play all LMPs that have a version number >1.3 * you get the par-times at the end of each level, as usual Installation ============ Put all the files found in "udoom-1.1.tar.gz" and Linux-DOOM (X-DOOM and/or SVGA-DOOM, named "xdoom" and "sdoom" respectively) in one directory. Look through the script "patchit" and uncomment the "exit 1" command in line 6. Then run it. If there were no error messages you have now the patched versions of LinuxDOOM. Bugs ==== None (still).
